History of Cilacap

History of Cilacap

1. Age kingdom of Java

Search history Javanese royal era begins from the time the Hindu Mataram kingdom until the kingdom of Surakarta. At the end of the Majapahit Kingdom era (1294-1478) regional forerunner of Cilacap district is divided into regions of the kingdom of Majapahit, Duke Pasir Luhur and pakuan pajajaran kingdom, whose territory stretches from east to west:
- Region Gede Dad Ki Ki Ageng Donan and territories under the rule of the kingdom of Majapahit.
- The territory of the Kingdom of reclaiming and territories Duke Pasir Luhur
- The territory of the Kingdom of pakuan pajajaran.

According to Husein Djayadiningrat, pakuan pajajaran Hindu kingdom after being attacked by Islamic work Banten and Cirebon fell in 1579, so that the eastern part of the kingdom pakuan pajajaran handed over to the Kingdom of Cirebon. Therefore the whole region forerunner of Cilacap district in the east of the kingdom under the rule of Islam and the west Pajang handed over to the Kingdom of Cirebon.

Display royal replaced with Islamic Mataram kingdom established by Panembahan Senopatipada years 1587-1755, the forerunner of Cilacap areas originally under the rule of the Islamic Kingdom Pajang handed over to the kingdom of Mataram.

In 1595 the kingdom of Mataram hold expansion to the District Galuh residing in the Kingdom of Cirebon.

According to the diary of the Dutch Company in Fort Batavia, dated 21 February 1682 received a letter containing a translation of the Citarum road trip, north Karawang to Bagelen. The names were passed in the area forerunner of Cilacap is Dayeuhluhur and Limbangan.

2. Age of Dutch colonization

Formation Onder Afdeling Cilacap (two months after the resident Launy duty) with Besluit Governor General D.De Erens dated July 17, 1839 No. 1, decided:
"For the sake of the implementation of local government that is more neatly in the southern region of Banyumas and Cilacap port development increase, the pending proposals organization southern districts which will be a part of, one of three Assistant Resident in this residency will be based in Cilacap".

Because of Banyumas South considered too extensive to be retained by the Regent Purwokerto and Banyumas Regent then by Besluit dated June 27, 1841 No. 10 stipulated: "Patenschap" Dayeuhluhur separated from Banyumas and used as a department of its own, namely section Cilacap with a capital of Cilacap, which became the Headmaster of the European Bestuur Bestuur Resident Assistant and Head of the Native Rangga or Onder Regent. Thus the Government Natives called Onder Regentschap par with Patih Regional Head Dayeuhluhur.

However the establishment of department fulfill the wishes of Purwokerto and Banyumas Regent who had long wanted to reduce the area of power each with Patenschap Dayeuhluhur and Adiraja District.

The district boundaries pattenschap Dayeuhluhur Adiraja which together form Onder Regentschap Cilacap according to plan Resident Banyumas De Sturier dated March 31, 1831 are as follows:
From the mouth of the River Serayu upstream toward the midpoint of the height of Mount Prenteng. From there to the top, down to the southeast mountains Kendeng, the summit of Mount Gumelem (Igir funeral). from there to the south boundaries of regional residency Banyumas towards the sea. From there westward along the coast towards Serayu River estuary.

From Adiraja district boundaries can be seen that the District Adiraja as a forerunner of the former Kawedanan Kroja greater than the former Kawedanan Kroja, because at that time there has been no Kalireja District, which was formed from the sub-section Adiraja District and as Banyumas district. So broad Onder Regentschap Cilacap district is still larger than the Cilacap now.

At the time of Resident Banyumas 9th Van de Moore proposed the Dutch East Indies government on October 3, 1855 signed by the Governor General Duijmaer Van Tuist, the Colonial Minister Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Cabinet Sreserpt on December 29, 1855 No. 86, and a confidential letter Colonial Minister dated January 5th, 1856 No. 7 / A submitted to the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies.

The proposal Cilacap formation by means of two Colonial Minister that the application for approval the establishment of Cilacap Regency and bestir indigenous organizations and expenditure budget of more than F.5.220 per year that both require the approval of the King of the Netherlands, having received a confidential letter the Minister of the Colonial Government of the Dutch East Indies with Besluit Governor General dated March 21, 1856 No. 21 among others set Onder Regentschap increased to Regentschap Cilacap (Cilacap).
